Many LAT candidates come from arts and humanities backgrounds and skip maths completely. That is a costly mistake. The Mathematics section has only 5 MCQs, but they test simple, school-level skills, and on a close merit list, 5 sure marks can make the difference.
Test yourself with the 5 Math MCQs below. Tap an option and you will see straight away whether it is right, with the full working and the formula behind it. Your score appears at the end.

How Maths Is Tested in the LAT
The Law Admission Test (LAT) is conducted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for admission to the five-year LLB programme. Its objective part has 75 MCQs, and Mathematics carries 5 of them, one mark each. HEC gives 100 minutes for all 75 MCQs, which is a little over a minute per question, so quick working matters.
The pattern can change, so always confirm the latest details in HEC’s official content weightages for the LAT and on the Education Testing Council (ETC) portal before your test.
Topics That Come Up in LAT Math MCQs
- Percentages: discount, profit and loss, and percentage increase or decrease
- Ratio and proportion: dividing an amount in a given ratio
- Averages: finding a missing number or a new average
- Basic algebra: solving simple equations such as 3x − 7 = 20
- Speed, distance and time: average speed and time taken
- Basic geometry: angles, perimeter and area of simple shapes
None of these need more than matric-level maths. What costs marks is a careless step, such as forgetting to change minutes into hours.
How to Get the Most From This Practice Set
- Solve each question on rough paper first, then tap your answer.
- Read the working under every answer, even the ones you got right.
- Learn the formula shown under each answer. The same formulas come back with different numbers.
- Time yourself. Aim to solve each question in about one minute.
- Press Try again after a day or two. The options change order every time, so you cannot rely on remembering their positions.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many Math MCQs come in the LAT?
5 MCQs of one mark each, out of 75 MCQs in the objective part. Check the latest pattern on the HEC ETC portal before your test.
Is LAT maths difficult for arts students?
No. The questions are at matric level: percentages, ratios, averages, simple equations and basic geometry. A few weeks of regular practice is usually enough.
Why does each Math set have only 5 questions?
Each practice set has as many questions as its subject carries in the real test. Mathematics carries 5 marks, so each set has 5 questions.
Are these questions from HEC past papers?
No. They are original practice questions written on the LAT pattern, and every answer is worked out step by step.
Can I attempt the set more than once?
Yes. Press Try again at the end of the quiz. The options appear in a new order each time.
