LAT Urdu MCQs: 10 Questions Even Native Speakers Get Wrong

Most LAT candidates never prepare for Urdu because it is their own language. Then the paper asks for the plural of a word, the feminine of an animal or the writer of a classic novel, and easy marks slip away. The Urdu section carries 10 marks, the same as Islamiat and Pakistan Studies.

Test yourself with the 10 Urdu MCQs below. They are in Urdu, as in the real test. Tap an option and you will see straight away whether it is right, with a short reason and a reference. Your score appears at the end.

How Urdu Is Tested in the LAT

The Law Admission Test (LAT) is conducted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for admission to the five-year LLB programme. Its objective part has 75 MCQs, and Urdu carries 10 of them, one mark each. Urdu also matters in the written part: HEC allows the essay and the personal statement to be written in either English or Urdu.

The pattern can change, so always confirm the latest details in HEC’s official content weightages for the LAT and on the Education Testing Council (ETC) portal before your test.

Topics That Come Up in LAT Urdu MCQs

  • Grammar (Qawaid): singular and plural (wahid-jama), masculine and feminine (muzakkar-muannas), and the kinds of nouns
  • Vocabulary: antonyms (mutazad), synonyms (mutradif) and correct spelling (sahih imla)
  • Idioms and proverbs: the meaning of common muhavare and how kahawatein are completed
  • Urdu literature: famous poets and writers, their books and their titles, such as Baba-e-Urdu

Spelling questions catch the most students. Words such as zimma (ذمہ) and zarurat (ضرورت) sound alike but are written with different letters, and the options are built around that confusion.

How to Get the Most From This Practice Set
