Most LAT candidates treat Islamiat as free marks. Then the paper asks which Surah was revealed first in the Cave of Hira, or what share a single daughter gets in inheritance, and the confusion starts. The Islamiat section carries only 10 marks, so every slip costs you.
Test yourself with the 10 Islamiat MCQs below. Tap an option and you will see straight away whether it is right, with a short reason and the Qur’an or Hadith reference. Your score appears at the end.

How Islamiat Is Tested in the LAT
The Law Admission Test (LAT) is conducted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for admission to the five-year LLB programme. Its objective part has 75 MCQs, and Islamiat carries 10 of them, one mark each. The rest of the paper covers English, General Knowledge, Pakistan Studies, Urdu, Mathematics, and a written essay and personal statement.
The pattern can change, so always confirm the latest details on HEC’s official Education Testing Council (ETC) portal before your test.
Topics That Come Up in LAT Islamiat MCQs
- Qur’an: the first revelation, Surahs and key verses on worship, justice and rights
- Hadith: the major collections and well-known narrations
- Pillars of Islam: Salah, Zakat, Sawm and Hajj, and on whom each is obligatory
- Seerah and Islamic history: major battles, treaties and the Khulafa-e-Rashideen
- Islamic law basics: inheritance shares, justice and the rights of others
Future law students gain twice from the last topic, because Pakistani courts apply the Islamic rules of inheritance in Muslim succession cases every day.
How to Get the Most From This Practice Set
- Attempt all 10 questions without notes, as you would in the test hall.
- Read the reason under every answer, even the ones you got right.
- Open the reference in a Qur’an translation or Hadith book and read the full verse or narration.
- Press Try again after a day or two. The options change order every time, so you cannot rely on remembering their positions.
- Your last score is saved only on your own phone or computer, so you can track your progress privately.

10 MCQs of one mark each, out of 75 MCQs in the objective part. Check the latest pattern on the HEC ETC portal before your test.
Are these questions from HEC past papers?
No. They are original practice questions written on the LAT pattern. Each answer is checked against the Holy Qur’an or an authentic Hadith collection.
Can I attempt the set more than once?
Yes. Press Try again at the end of the quiz. The options appear in a new order each time.
How are the references written?
Qur’an references are given as Surah name (Surah number:Ayah number), for example Surah An-Nisa (4:11). Hadith numbers follow the standard numbering of Sahih al-Bukhari.
Are LAT MCQs in English or Urdu?
HEC’s official pattern does not fix the language of the MCQs. Past candidates report that the MCQs come in English, except the Urdu section, which is in Urdu. The essay and the personal statement can be written in either English or Urdu.
